Practical information

The virtual event platform

RSD2021 will take place on a versatile virtual platform called Liveto.

Each participant creates a user account on the Liveto platform in order to participate in the virtual event (in case the account has not already been created before). The link to access the platform and detailed login instructions will be sent to participants before the event.

We recommend that you use a computer when participating in the event. Mobile devices do not support all features.

You can follow the programme as a live stream from the platform in the main stage programme rooms. The platform also offers you different networking possibilities: you can chat with other participants in different chat rooms, send one-to-one chat messages, or meet in digital coffee rooms.

Please note: the parallel sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday take place in Zoom. Links to Zoom will be found on the platform.

Note also that all the programme is recorded (including the parallel sessions) and participants will have access to recordings and materials on the platform also after the Research Service Days, until 31 August.

General technical instructions for participants

· Functional Internet connection is essential in virtual events!
· Computer: Please participate from your own computer (mobile device does not support all functions).
· We recommend that you close all other applications on your computer to make sure the full capacity of your Internet connection is available.
· Browser: the latest version of Chrome is recommended for the best experience. The platform also works with Firefox and Edge browsers.
· Please note that strong firewalls can interfere with the operation of the virtual event platform, so to ensure the best functionality, UDP connections from jvb.liveto.io on ports 30300-30500 should be allowed (you can check with your organization’s IT support).
· Sound: Headphones are the best way to participate in virtual events. If you participate in a conversation, preferably use headphones with their own microphone.

Remember to log in and check out the virtual platform in advance before the event to ensure the functionality! Links to platform will be sent to you a few days before the event.

How to use ZOOM

If you plan to participate in the parallel sessions on Wednesday and Thursday, please note that they take place in ZOOM and read carefully these Zoom instructions. The Zoom links will be found on the virtual platform. If you are presenting in the parallel session, please see here: How to present in Zoom.

  • Make sure well in advance that your devices and internet connection are compatible with Zoom: https://zoom.us/test.
  • Use the same setup and connection at the actual live event.
  • If you have not previously used Zoom, please download and install the program when prompted to do so.
  • If you are facing technical difficulties during the event, please send a chat message to helpdesk chat on the virtual platform for assistance, or while in Zoom, ask in the Zoom chat.
